When I got out my cards to do readings today, I had such a clear vision of people setting little paper boats, each with a flickering tiny candle, into the water and sending them out to see. This made my throat catch, which would be associated with the throat chakra. This is a potent new moon and we need to approach it with respect and consideration.
If the heart chakra is the bridge between our physical and nonphysical realities, then the throat chakra is the first step into navigating the latter. We’ve had plenty of earthy chakra action to form desires; now we use our voices to speak those desires into being.
And whammo, there is your new moon energy, making wishes and sending them out into the universe to be delivered to you by the full moon.
Our cards, which wanted to be six in number for this reading:
- King of Pentacles
- Page of Swords
- Strength
- 7 of Cups, reversed
- Page of Wands
- Page of Pentacles, reversed
Hold the phone, three Pages!!! Okay, so one of them doesn’t pan out (reversed Page of Pentacles) but it’s exciting to have three show up in a reading. That means energy is rousing; maybe it is an early dose of Spring Fever this cycle.
It’s only appropriate that the new moon would have us all stirred up with ideas, dreams, news, expectations. No real result behind it, not yet, but the wheels are in motion.
King of Pentacles wants stuff. Page of Swords says, “You do? GREAT! I have the secret code to break into the safe and get the money!”
And then Strength has to come in and settle both of these cards down. “You don’t have to clobber anybody and steal their stuff, in order to win,” she says.
“Yeah,” says the King of Pentacles, not impressed, “But the code. We have the code. It’ll be a victimless crime. Easy in, easy out. Please tell me how that is NOT a win.”
“I’ll tell you how it’s not in four words,” says Strength. “Seven of Cups reversed. You are thrilled and dazzled by the thought of your potential big win, so much so that you are trusting A PAGE for Pete’s sake, and can’t think through the excitement and the fantasies of what you’ll do with all that money to see if… any of it is actually real. Why don’t you go ask the reversed Page of PENTACLES if there is anything in that safe.”
King of Pentacles frowns and looks out the window where Page of Swords is fake-fighting an azalea bush, slashing it with her sword while carrying on a nonstop stream of insults and self-congratulatory dialogue. The doorbell rings.
The Page of Wands clutches a stack of pizza boxes, having barely escaped being assaulted by Page of Swords. “I have pizza,” he announces, and smiles, because everybody loves pizza and vicariously, that means everybody loves him.
All of this is to say, you need to settle down before you try to lasso this new moon and overburden her with plans that you’ve not thought out thoroughly, or have decided to go forth with, without doing some more research. Think VERY carefully about your new moon objectives and whether or not they are goals, or fantasies. And eat some pizza, because you are a mess when you are hungry.
