Weekly Tarot Energy Reading

Monday, February 16, 2026

The first thing I received about this week’s energy, as I was shuffling and before putting down any cards, was a building momentum. So I feel like the week starts out quietly but may not end that way. We’ll see if the cards confirm.

  • The Devil, reversed
  • King of Swords, reversed
  • 7 of Cups
  • Ace of Wands, reversed
  • The Empress

Oooooooohhhhkay. Geez. Is the Devil reversed better than an upright Devil? Because reversed means dead battery, no energy, no resonance, right? RIGHT?

Yes, but. The Devil when he appears upright is the Devil with the lights on, and the Devil when he’s reversed is the Devil with the lights off, except now you can’t see him and that is really scary. If you can’t see him, you can’t figure out how to dodge his influence. So right off the bat, this reading – I dislike.

More fun: reversed King of Swords. So no help from him; had he been upright, he might have brought his own insights about the Devil we can’t see, and he wouldn’t have been shy about giving us chapter and verse from hard won experience.

7 of Cups: emotional overwhelm, too much, bonus, extra.

Reversed Ace of Wands means we can’t get any traction, our wheels are just spinning.

We should stop and review this mess. Don’t be surprised if the first part of this week brings unwelcome surprises or new information, in bewildering amounts of experience or data. You can’t make anything out of this, so don’t even try. Just observe. No sense in trying to pick our way out of this or conjure up some great escape.

A good time to remind ourselves that we are not responsible for anyone’s actions but our own, and we were not meant to clean up after other people.

“Have another one of these sandwiches,” says the Empress. “Is your chair comfortable? You don’t want to go out there, anyway. Just stay here with me until this front rolls through.”

The Empress is a symbol of our rich inner resources, and in this case she particularly assures us that everything will be fine if we put aside any sense of urgency about things we might have wanted to get done out in the world. The world is a mess. Sometimes the right thing to do is to stay well out of it and instead enjoy the comforts of home, which after all is a personal empire, yes?

And after such a potentially messy and confusing week of sitting still, a great weekend to invite some friends over for lunch, or plan an outing with a small group. Something to look forward to! Don’t overthink it, just consider what has been popular and what is easy, in your realm.

  1. The reading for this week encourages me to stay home and spend time with characters from my library until Saturday — or at least to keep my mouth closed if I do have reason to leave my cave.
My personal card today is the Hanged Man. I just drew it after writing the first sentence of this comment! My book says: (this card) is your invitation to welcome ‘pauses’ with open arms and surrender to the ‘what is’ – even if it is different from what you expected. Ha! Your weekly energy reading is right on target.

    1. Thank you! XO.
I’m so tired of these years spent waiting, but it does seem like we’re being kept back at a safe distance while the crazy spins out. One day the seatbelt light will go off, surprising us all, and we’ll be free to wander about the cabin again. And what a great day that will be…
