Weekly Tarot Energy Reading

Oct. 5 – Oct. 11, 2026

  • The Reading
  • Thinking About the Reading: Questions for Journaling or Reflection

There’s a New Moon rising on Saturday, so this is a good week to run around with your (metaphorical) basket, scooping up every interesting thing that has shown up since Full Moon. Don’t let it get past you! We wish on the New Moon, and then gather on the Full.

What we gather up, and explore, pushes us in new directions. It’s a cycle of growth. With that said, I asked the cards what was up for this week with an emphasis on how it might cause us to grow, and how we can work with that:

  • 7 of Swords reversed
  • 10 of Wands reversed
  • THE WORLD!
  • Queen of Pentacles
  • The Sun, reversed

Oh dear. I was pretty excited until I flipped over that reversed Sun; you never want to get a reversed Sun. Visibility, physically and psychically, is sorely limited this week.

Reversed 7 of Swords is actually not so bad because it means a dialing down of the crazy; and 10 of Wands reversed – gosh, that’s a missed opportunity.

These are the obstacles, then: diminished perception, hesitancy/confusion about direction, and ultimately no reward, only complacency.

Great, go home, see you next week!

Just kidding. We then have The World, which is a super duper fantastic card of completion and wholeness; and the Queen of Pentacles, who meets us at the World’s ceremonial finish line with a warm towel, a cold drink, a generous hammock between two leafy oaks, and gentle assurances that the feast is being readied in yon glade and yea indeed, as you doze in the hammock you can smell the sizzling meat and the charcoal smoke wafting on the light breeze.

You did it, she says. You’ve come to a place that has everything you need.

Contrast that; the deep pleasure of a job well done and amply rewarded, and the underlying sense of things stirring uncomfortably just below the surface of that very same accomplishment. What?

When we draw The World card in Tarot, it’s easy to see it as a culmination. It’s the last card in the Major Arcana, after all, the end point and destination of whatever road we have been traveling. But while it is an end, it is not the end. We pause and enjoy what we’ve learned and the awareness we have gained. And then we start all over again, back to zero, back to The Fool.

Is that what needs to be topmost in our perspective this week? That we can enjoy a victory, and all it brings, but there is an entirely new leg of the journey waiting for us? We can’t see it, and don’t know enough about it to prepare properly, and this uneasiness might work to sap some of the pleasure of more obvious successes.

It’s the way of things, though. For some reason, it’s just more important this week than others that we note where we find ourselves, appreciate it, and still refuse to let our guard down and sink into thinking it’s enough. Clearly there’s more to come and we should be ready for it. We’ve made progress, but it’s on a journey that has not been fully revealed.

Questions for Journaling or Reflection

Where in your life right now do you feel the quiet satisfaction of “The World” and the Queen of Pentacles—a sense of completion, wholeness, or having arrived somewhere that finally has everything you need? Are you satisfied enough with it to call it a day?

The reversed Sun points to limited visibility—both outer and inner. What small practices could help you stay present with what is visible rather than straining to force clarity that isn’t available yet?

The reading highlights the tension between genuine success and the subtle uneasiness stirring beneath it—the sense that this ending is only a pause before the Fool’s journey begins again. How can you honor the victory without letting your guard down or missing the invitation to keep growing?

With the New Moon arriving Saturday, what “interesting things” have appeared since the last Full Moon that have yet to be scooped into your metaphorical basket? As you gather and make wishes, how might you hold both celebration of what’s complete and quiet readiness for the new cycle that is already forming, even if you cannot yet fully see or prepare for it?
