Weekly Tarot Energy Reading

May 4 – 10, 2026

Well! WELL! Who’s the crazy one now, I ask you? Last week I put out the Full Moon reading and it was so ridiculous that I nearly shelved it. A day later, my feed was flooded with posts from astrologers saying, “Watch out for this moon in Scorpio, it’s a doozy and it’s come to stand on your head until you get things right.” Vindication.

If you saw the reading, you’ll note that I used an actual spread instead of just winging it. Here’s the director’s cut: I did wing it, at first, and then I laughed and thought, “Oh that is just crazy, what on earth?” It was such a dramatically grating reading that it seemed wise to divert and try again with something structured, because surely I had gone askew. But the second reading was the same!

At some point you just throw up your hands and let the cards talk, as I will now in regard to what energy we can expect to work with this week.

  • 5 of Wands
  • 3 of Pentacles, reversed
  • Ace of Cups
  • Ace of Wands
  • 5 of Pentacles, reversed

I’m using Kat Black’s beautiful Golden Tarot and she likes angels on her ace cards; I’m all for it, because I read ace cards as initiatory. Angels are messengers. That’s two aces, two angels, two Pentacles, two Wands, two fives, what in tarnation is going on here?! Twos are always about introducing something to what was previously a table for one.

Oh, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Both our earthy Pentacles cards are reversed, which means we can kick them all we want but they won’t wake up.

5 of Wands; something is stirring. Fives rouse us to make changes; five cards are where things come to a head, and we know we can’t keep ignoring the problem at hand. The upright 5 of Wands is the impulse to make a big change in what we desire, what we carry with us, what we’ve gathered along the way. It’s unwieldy to try and juggle too many responsibilities, and inevitably we drop something.

Fives involve people. It’s not a private disappointment, inner conflict, or sense of overwhelm or discouragement. It’s very public, which is part of what forces us to change. People are looking. Fives are so exposed!

That’s why it is very, very nice that two Ace-Angels fly in; aces start things, leave a bundle of tinder and a lighter at the doorstep. These Ace-Angels are in Cups (emotions, feelings, the unseen realm) and Wands (desires, impulsive movement, the bonus content) which means our urge to take some action or a step forward stems purely from the heart. It’s about Stuff We Want.

Our two Pentacles cards are reversed; they are bringing nothing to this party, no exciting sense of having a talent for something that might be lucrative at some point, and no ability to figure that part out. (“Yeah, but can it make money?” we always ask. And reversed 5 of Pentacles groans from the floor, “I have absolutely no idea.”)

What to do with our big ideas this week, in our hustle culture that wants us to post the most recent earnings from our side quest on the socials? Just that; be big. Be thinking. The Angel-Aces aren’t expecting you to produce anything yet, only to get excited and test your willingness to advance in a new direction that delights your heart and your curiosity both. It’s a good week to explore possibilities, to see if what is coaxing you forward has some staying power.

Dare we bring Lenormand to the party? Asking, “What is the general trend for this week?”

  • Tree
  • Scythe
  • House
  • Garden
  • Fish

That Scythe! Like the fives in Tarot, it’s a bit of a decision card, too; something has to be dealt with. It makes me think of the 5 of Wands that starts our earlier reading.

There’s sudden movement next week, and unexpected; it affects an area that prior to this we thought was stable. But clearly some pruning is needed. Pruning is so hard because it means cutting away sometimes healthy limbs or growth, which seems counterintuitive.

But after the pruning is done, the health of the plant is improved. And in this spread, after some necessary but possibly abrupt decisions are made, home life is secured as well as public presence (the Garden is being out and engaged, socially.) With Fish to follow, which always means abundance and a run of good luck.

The message is not to be afraid to make a change where you must early in the week, even if you had not expected to.

If our Tarot spread was saying, “Don’t roll over and go back to sleep! Stay awake and think about that great dream for a little while!” then this Lenormand spread reinforces that; it’s a very good idea. Stay awake for, and embrace, your opportunities. The details will take care of themselves, later.
