Weekly Tarot Energy Reading

May 25 – 31, 2026

Report from the field: no Towers crashed in my world last week, but I sure did note a number of people and organizations in the news have potentially career-ending bad days. If they asked me, I would tell them not to salvage what is gone but instead to pivot and start over. (As the Robinsonites would say, “Ever forward, never back.”)

I’m noting this not to say that my readings are infallible, but to point out again that any divination is a forecast, not a guarantee. Currently my area is in a weather pattern that says we’ll have rain every day for a while, huge chances of rain each day. People online decided this was a potentially Biblical calamity, and I was glad to see a respected weather man with many years of experience step in and remind everyone on social media that such conditions used to be referred to as “summer in the South.”

Are you likely to see a great big drenching thunderstorm roll in, in the afternoon of an average summer day here? Why yes. Yes you are. I was born in the nineteen hundreds, when you expected a daily squall about 2:00 pm; during which time you and your friends would race on your bikes to the nearest neighbor’s front porch, and cluster there with dripping hair and much chatter about what to do next, until a few minutes and half an inch later, the storm cleared out.

Across town at your grandma’s house, it might have been bone dry while the gutters on your street gushed with rain.

So I keep doing these forecasts, because it is good to be situationally aware (on the front end) and perhaps have added context (on the back.) It’s never a bad idea to keep one of those tiny umbrellas in your car.

Our cards this week:

  • Temperance
  • Queen of Swords, reversed
  • Knight of Pentacles, reversed
  • The Devil
  • Queen of Cups
  • High Priestess

Gosh, half these cards are upright Major Arcana cards and the others are court cards! This is a consequential week in our personal growth.

When we get a lot of Minor Arcana cards, those Ace through 10s, we are actively working and striving, or failing, but in either case we’re on the ladder. When we get to the court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King) then we’ve leveled up.

The Pages and Knights have gained a position at court. To the people who developed Tarot, that would be a huge societal move into spheres of influence. In that sphere, even higher, the Queens and Kings show mastery. The sphere of influence represents the only thing we truly can influence – ourselves and our behavior.

I wrote a lot about Temperance last week, when she showed up to tamp down any impulsive reactions we might have about the crashing Tower that introduced that spread, and her influence is still mighty.

We need her calming energy because the Devil is the card of secrets, and the High Priestess is also considered an energy that does not fling everything she’s got right out there to be examined like baskets of fresh produce at the farmer’s market.

But the Devil conceals for power and control, while the HP veils her knowledge of what makes us tick in order to keep reckless and disrespectful people from desecrating it.

The Devil loves desecration, it’s his favorite thing. So there is the  protector of all that is fine and pure within us, and the opposing energy that wants to spit on it in order to create as much spiritual, mental, and emotional distress as possible.

In between stands Temperance, looking for resources she can send us to help navigate a potentially difficult week of societal tug-of-war between those who respect the truth and those who want to bury it for their own protection.

What’s she got in her deck? Reversed Queen of Swords; better shut up for now. Reversed Knight of Pentacles; an application of effort won’t help. So it is not advised to run in there and tell everyone what to do, and expect them to jump on the plan and make it happen.

“A soft word turneth away wrath,” says the Bible, and it is true. Temperance, herself one who knows the power of soft words instead of, say, a Queen of Swords style scathing verbal deconstruction, gently nudges the Queen of Cups into this fray as our ally.

Queens are masters of management and working behind the scenes. A queen is like the old story of the swan; how a swan glides across the lake effortlessly, but under the water her legs are a blur of motion.

Force will not stop a negative situation, this week, from rolling downhill and ruining anything in its path. This particular brand of harmful energy is out to destroy all the evidence and shoot the witnesses in a dark parking lot to escape going to trial and letting the truth come out.

But malevolence is only self-sustaining if it is fed, and consumes more malicious energy. It can’t create anything on its own. If you are confronted with situations this week that feel like they’ve come to shut you up and smother the truth, or you otherwise feel locked down and suppressed, the best course of action is to fight softer and not harder. Unlike your foe, you will only win the high ground with a concentrated application of compassion, emotional maturity, and refusing to lose composure.
