New Moon June 14, 2026
Remember when I wrote about how to do easy lunar energy work? I posted it to coincide with the last Full Moon, and now … of course, you can jump in at any point in a moon cycle but if you missed it, here comes New Moon. It’s an opportunity to, as casually or fancily as you wish, keep note over the next two weeks of your aspirations, new interests, ponderings, or other things that make your ears perk up.
By taking these things out of your head in some effort to memorialize them, it signals down the wire that your being is awake and interested in engaging instead of just slumped over on a bench on the sidelines.
So maybe think about it.

In the meantime, the energy accompanying this New Moon and its cycle is:
- The Sun
- 3 of Pentacles reversed
- 8 of Cups
- 6 of Cups
- 8 of Wands reversed
“The Sun!” I gasped happily as the first card turned over, then I had to temper expectations with those two reversals and the complicated Cups cards.
The Sun is magnificent, clarifying, illuminating, revealing. It dramatically improves any spread in which is appears. But there is always context, and the relief the Sun brings, in this case, is bittersweet.
The two reversals don’t even count. The fledgling steps toward learning a new skill from our 3 of Pentacles fail to take hold, and the reversed 8 of Wands has us dithering and unable to choose what to carry along.
“Forget those,” says the Sun. “I’m not here to help you do stuff this time. I’m here to help you feel stuff.”
Feel stuff indeed, with those Cups cards. 6 of Cups is a touchy energy, pivoting delicately on the line between comforting nostalgia and delusional, unhinged regret over the past. And the 8 of Cups is sorrow and the realization that no matter how good it is, the best will never be enough. But unlike 6 of Cups, an 8 of Cups carries with it the gift of some emotional maturity and the ability to walk away.
6 of Cups hesitates to walk away and stays stuck. 8 of Cups limps away. Bleeding, yes, but getting out of there.

And so which Tarot card in this spread fuels our ability to make realizations and decisions about what in our past is valid, and what has had its rough edges buffed off by time and distance? Clarity. What brings us clarity, and specifically clarity of feelings? The Sun.
So yes, rejoice that the Sun has appeared; and while in this spread it does not announce two weeks of picnics and mini golf, it still arrives as a huge gift that lets us recognize what needs to be let go of to free up space for where we go next.
If you decide to do the lunar energy work, this spread would encourage you to frame your ponderings something like this, “Now that I’m going to be feeling a lot better, what is it that I’ve wanted to explore and what new things am I making space for?”
