- Thinking About the Reading: Questions for Journaling or Reflection
How can I interpret the Full Moon readings better, so we have more guidance instead of just a “heads up” about prevailing energy trends?
In Tarot, I look at the Moon as a friendly advisor, although not a typical counselor with clear direction. A full moon, as it softens edges and blurs lines, makes us work for it. The moon makes us squint. That is part of the Tarot Moon’s job; to create a pause before acting, and to really consider our path forward. I think the delay in evaluating the data allows our feelings to surface and bring in their opinion and influence.
“Okay,” the Tarot Moon hopes we will say then, “This is what I really want.” And every decision, we are hopefully learning, should be what we really want.
What’s happening with this month’s full Corn Moon, and how to tell what we really want? These are the cards for this reading:

- Death
- Ace of Pentacles, reversed
- 7 of Wands
- 9 of Swords
- 4 of Pentacles, reversed
Alright, this is what is not happening with this Full Moon’s arrival: anything Pentacles. Pentacles address our foundational matters of food, money, and shelter but they are reversed – the powerful Ace that initiates work, and the 4 of Pentacles that tells us we have a made a good foundation on which to build.
If I had ambitions of starting a new project in the Pentacles arena in the next two weeks, I would shelve it. Instead we might be in for a time of being called to account for what we are defending in our lives, possibly to our detriment.
The Death card should not freak anybody out. The Death card is a symbol of change, but where people get upset is the understanding that the change is permanent. It’s not a temporary adjustment or course correction; something has finished its work, and that leaves a void to be filled.
The void is as scary as the ending. The Death card is, in that way, a “snap to it” kind of energy; if you leave a void unfilled, it will collect all sorts of random things and possibly garbage. We never want to be careless about a void.
“I have no idea what to put in the void and no energy to scrounge up something good,” you might be thinking, and that’s fair. You may not be ready to fill it, but can you at least protect it while you wait?

That’s what I think this reading is about; a big change, and then the threat of carelessness as it relates to what comes next. Death is the big change, 7 of Wands is our passionate defense of all sorts of stuff with which we’ve filled our lives, and 9 of Swords is the dawning realization that some of our 7 of Wands stuff is burdensome, and not genuine, and yet we’ve spent so much time making a case for it out of pride – well. Here we are. Boxed in by our own worries about what it’ll look like if we change course.
But that’s our beautiful Tarot Moon, a reflection of how we experience the physical Full Moon; how do you really feel about this? it comes to ask. Not an inventory or list of what it means – what is communicates – to observers about our worthy interests or how we prove we are good enough. It pokes us in the ribs, instead, to ask what we are experiencing about this and how it sits emotionally.
That Death card means change is not just in the air, it’s here. Our task is to figure out how we fill the void it leaves; with true and intentional authenticity, thoughtful place-holding while we think through our next move, or a collection of whatever junk we’ve got on hand so we don’t have to feel any empty space.
Questions for Journaling or Reflection
Where in my life do I sense a permanent ending or shift and what void is it creating? How am I currently protecting that empty space while I decide what truly belongs there—versus filling it hastily with whatever is convenient?
What am I actively defending or fighting to maintain right now, and does that defense still feel authentic and life-giving—or has it become burdensome, pride-fueled, or more about appearances than genuine desire?
If I set aside worries about how a change might look to others, what do I actually feel and want in this area of my life? What would it look like to choose from that deeper knowing rather than from obligation or fear of emptiness?
