July 27 – August 2, 2026

There is so much going on this week with a full moon on Wednesday, which will affect the weekly forecast, and Mercury having finally left retrograde. We don’t watch Mercury Retrograde clear out fast like a squall on a summer afternoon; oh no, Mercury lollygags and zigzags its way out, taking as much time as possible because Mercury. Loves. Attention.
Of course it does; it is the planet of communication, after all, and communication is what separates us from the animals.
Yes. I know animals communicate. But humans built an entire civilization around communication in a way that animals would find unnecessary and ridiculous.
Full Moon also makes a big splash every month, but this month the astrologers are losing their minds and the occurrence of the July full moon is emphasized as a significant celestial event. Planetary things are happening this month that astrologers have not seen in decades, or sometimes even longer than that, and they are using the phrase “once in a lifetime” very freely on social media.
And the last thing I want to mention is that I’ve been trying to figure out how to make these energy forecasts more useful; but I’m also trying to learn the software to format my Tarot book. Wise use of Mercury Retrograde: reviewing how routine things are done and trying to figure out how to improve them.
Stupid use of Mercury Retrograde: forging ahead with formatting a manuscript using software that has terrible user instructions.
So here we are. I decided, for today, to pull three cards and let them be our focus cards for the week. Not to tell us what the week will bring, but to suggest how we might deal with it, whatever comes. Full Moon, check. Weekly energies, check. Mercury wobbling around on its way out, check. I’m not reading reversals this time. And the cards are:

- Tower
- Magician
- Page of Pentacles
Okay, what is the Page of Pentacles doing thrown in there with these two Major Arcana cards, you are not doubt asking. Hey, you better get up, boy, because these cards are going to run your legs off this week!
Pentacles deal with our foundational matters of food, money, and shelter. Pages are messengers. They don’t do things; they announce things, so you can do things/take action relating to whatever news the page has brought.
The Tower: super big crash, affects everything. Magician: immediately figures out what he can get out of this disaster. The Magician, you gasp, batting your eyes. “He’ll make us something nice and save us!”
No he won’t. The Magician cares about one person: the Magician. Whatever saving there is to be done this week, you’d best be ready to do it yourself. The Tower? That’s an event. That’s a collapse and carries with it a finality. If you have been waiting to make a move, you will not have another chance if you miss this.
And that’s the real question here; which character will you be as the Tower falls and settles with dust clouds and debris? Will you be the Magician, jumping on this as an opportunity, or will you just run around and tell people about it? Will you take action, or will you stand clear, while urging others to do it?
