Okay, I know what you’re thinking. “But Elizabeth,” you are thinking. “Surely every Tarot reading has many reversed cards in it, like, duh.”
That has not been my experience…until this decade in progress. An average reading generally has mostly upright cards, for me; and if there are one or two that are reversed, they act as exclamation points, for emphasis. It was not until the 2020s that I began to constantly have spreads dominated by reversals.
DOMINATED BY REVERSALS, those twenties! How often, outside of Tarot, do you use the word “reversal?” You might once in a while mention reversing, but reversal? Not common and more often associated with the delicate phrase, “a reversal of fortune.” In our case, the fortune a Tarot card would have brought you with its energy (positive or negative, still you can gain from it) is snatched away, when it is reversed. Offline. Unavailable. Undelivered.
Not surprisingly, today we have three reversed cards and I’m going to shove them over to the side of the desk as usual, but I would note the numbers: six and nine. Made up of threes. Three is a delicate energy we need to be cautious of anyway, as it needs so much managing and here we have, in the reversed cards, no energy to put toward it.
No energy, that is, to deal with delicate things. Park that, we’ll come back to it.
Not reversed? Ace of Pentacles (initiation, beginning) and the Sun. The Sun! Hooray! An upright appearance of the Sun wipes everything off the board. The Sun is healing, positive, clear-sighted energy. Nothing is sneaking up on you, nothing is hidden, and all is uncloaked.
Pentacles is, of course, the foundational matters of food, money, and shelter. Aces are beginnings.
The easiest way to present this week’s energy is to say that any new beginning launched with an eye toward building, maintaining, or stabilizing things in your Pentacles area could meet with success, and what’s more, you will feel confident about it. If you have been waiting to take the next step, this energy could be the piece of the puzzle you wanted to find.
The Ace of Pentacles/Sun combo is a hearty pairing; it has gusto and large gestures. This week, whether you are swinging for the fences or tending to tasks you have put off for too long, try not to get hung up on small details and fiddly things. That would be like using this bulldozer energy to move your grandmother’s birdbath two and a half inches to the right, and spending the entire afternoon trying to do it without tearing up the lawn, the hydrangeas, and the stepping stones while Granny frantically tries to steer you with hand signals from the kitchen window.
You can help Granny another day. For now, you’ve got bigger things to do.
