We have a jumper. That’ll raise the hair on the back of your neck, when you’re shuffling! Saving him for last. The other cards are:
- Devil, reversed
- Ace of Cups, reversed
- 4 of Wands
- Ace of Wands
- 4 of Swords
The Devil – hmm. He’s reversed, so not particularly influential this week; which is usually a good thing but it does mean that we may not recognize the Devil energy when we see it, and I’m also inclined to say, “The Devil you know is better than the Devil you don’t.”
Who is afoot this week, then, on cloven hooves? Before I push the Devil aside, reversed and inert as he is and off the field, I must pause. If we don’t see the Devil we know, does that mean the Devil we don’t could enter the chat this week?
Ace of Cups reversed; this is not a week to be all up in our feelings. The energy does not support starting some daring emotional pursuit.
Fours coming in hot! The fours are steady and reliable. The 4 of Swords, which I find to be a very moving card, signals “I’ll be there when you need me.” But his very appearance indicates that we don’t exactly need him just yet, because he’s resting and storing up his energy. Please don’t call unless it is an emergency, says 4 of Swords. But of course if it is, then do.
I don’t think we’re going to need him – his purpose is to give us courage of knowing there is backup – because look at this: Ace of Wands, 4 of Wands! This is not a feeling week; this is an initiating week, and a go for it week, in the area of our ambitions and the things that excite us and make us want to get out of bed in the mornings. Are you a little worried that you can’t do it alone? Everybody looking at you? Well, stop. Get out of your feelings (Ace of Cups reversed) and remember you have people behind you who will show up if you get wobbly (4 of Swords.)
Is there some new threat or darkness lurking around the edges, while you storm ahead? Might you miss something in your excitement? Is that reversed Devil bugging you? Try not to let it; perhaps what he really symbolizes is the idea that there will always be new things used to try and frighten us out of going for what we want. Always. Our egos look for ways to shoo us back into the house and slam the door, in order to keep us locked down and safe for another day.
The jumper: 5 of Swords!!! More Swords! Five is the energy of coming to a decision, or a turning point. You can no longer just go along as you have been; it’s time to move forward and leave an unworkable situation behind you.
What a GREAT jumper made out of what most people think is a hairy card. If you were on the fence about moving ahead in a pursuit, interest, or ambition that you’ve been hesitating over, this is a wonderful week to do it. It’s time. It’s past time.
